of dust from the ground

first up and then down...

once a form

now there is none

Maui Gems

wandering flora climbing on high

the suns fervent reaching

welcoming the sky

wondering seeking with open eye

Ivy Leagues

so does the wood bind the sweet honeysuckle...

gently entwines the ivy so

from one burgeoning to the infinite

Woodlands

they shut the road through the woods

seventy years ago____

weather and time have undone it again

now you would never know

Double Tree

the tree that never had to fight

for sun and sky and air and light

but stood in the open plain and always got its share of rain

never became a forest king but lived and died a scrubby thing

Artists Statement

Landscape series

--a portion of territory that can be viewed at one time from one place

The most recent paintings are presented and structured similar in format to developing and writing a book...a theme, an outline, a story, and a finale.

A "series" consists of ten paintings in pre-determined topics or "chapters". Within the chapters are episodes, which lead from one painting to the next, forming and abstract visual story. They may be inspired by a mental picture or memory.... or from the imagination and sub-conscious.

As in the "natural-landscape”, the framed visual melds and blends into its, "local"/"personal", environment.

The subtle presence complements the interior whole...accepting a similar role as furniture, wall covering, and other accessories.
